Let's Build a Pre-K classroom for South Dallas children!

Ashland Greene IMPACT’s campaign, Let's Build A Pre-K in South Dallas, aims to fund the building of a new physical Pre-K classroom at KIPP Destiny (South Dallas campus) for this 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR. This new Pre-K classroom will educate 24 children and employ 2 new teachers in the first year.

Are you surprised to learn:

• Over 43 million adults in the United States cannot read, write, or do basic math above a 3^rd grade level.
• In Texas, the literacy rate is only 71.8% - the 3^rd lowest in the country.

Low literacy is associated with loss of employment opportunities, decreased workforce productivity, greater dependency on social welfare programs, higher crime rates, and loss of $106 – $238 billion in health care costs every year. Low levels of literacy ultimately cost the US $2.2 trillion per year.

But you can make a difference! We’re excited to partner with KIPP Texas-DFW to raise $10,000 to fund a pre-K classroom and make a real difference in our community.

KIPP Texas Public Schools is an open-enrollment, tuition-free public charter school network with 34,000 Pre-K – 12 students across Texas. Approximately 86% of their student population is economically disadvantaged and 38% are English Language Learners.

Pre-K education is a crucial component of a child's development, and it has a significant impact on their future success. Children that attend Pre-K learn to socialize with their peers, manage their emotions, and get the foundational academic skills to boost their lifetime learning potential.
